Banco Amazonas Joins 150 Other Financial Institutions to Promote SME Finance

Washington, D.C. May 7, 2019 –  Banco Amazonas became the newest member of the SME Finance Forum, a global membership network that brings together financial institutions, technology companies, and development finance institutions to share knowledge, spur innovation, and promote the growth of SMEs.

“200 million businesses worldwide need financing to invest, grow and create new jobs. We are proud to have Banco Amazonas join our network of 150 members who work to expand access to finance for small and medium businesses,” said Matthew Gamser, CEO of the Forum.

Banco Amazonas is the result of a private business initiative in Ecuador that since 1975 has guaranteed transparency, solvency, and the safety and profitability of customers. With over 43 years in the Ecuador financial sector, the bank covers all markets: consumer, mid-size business, corporate business, offering products (credits, deposits, and investments) and services for the above markets.

“Banco Amazonas is seeking to expand its network of financial institutions to help the bank develop deeper products and services for the mid-size businesses in Ecuador,” said Freddy Giovanni Trujillo Reyes, President of Banco Amazonas. “We feel there is a great opportunity for growing; we are interested in training and acquiring knowledge for this segment of the market through membership with the SME Finance Forum.”
