Washington, D.C. December 18, 2018 –  Federación de Cajas de Crédito y de Bancos de Los Trabajadores (Fedecrédito) became the newest member of the SME Finance Forum, a global membership network that brings together financial institutions, technology companies, and development finance institutions to share knowledge, spur innovation, and promote the growth of SMEs. 

“200 million businesses worldwide need financing to invest, grow and create new jobs. We are proud to have Fedecrédito join our network of 150 members who work to expand access to finance for small and medium businesses,” said Matthew Gamser, CEO of the Forum. 

Fedecrédito founded in 1943 is one of the founding entities of microfinance in El Salvador. Fedecrédito is a second-tier bank and international relationship manager of Sistema Fedecrédito. Sistema Fedecrédito provides specialized advice to its member entities, which includes 48 credit unions and seven retail banks. In addition, Sistema Fedecrédito helps to support vulnerable sectors’ inclusion into the new trends marked by the globalization of economies.
