DFIs peer group
Development Finance Institutions (DFIs) are specialized banks established by governments to foster economic growth, reduce poverty, support SME development, create jobs, and promote gender equality in both developing and developed economies.
While DFIs operate under similar rules and policies as commercial banks, their development mandate sets them apart. DFIs typically assume greater risk and adopt a long-term perspective on financial performance and profitability compared to commercial banks.
These differences present DFIs with unique challenges not commonly faced by traditional financial institutions. Recognizing their critical role, DFIs form an important segment of the SME Finance Forum’s membership. Although many Forum activities are relevant to DFIs, there is a clear need for a dedicated peer group. This platform will enable DFIs to share insights, exchange experiences, and explore opportunities for collaboration and partnership.
