Partha Guha Thakurta is the Regional Lead for Risk Management & Country Anchor covering Bangladesh, Bhutan & Nepal (BBN) at the Financial Institution Group Asia & Pacific, International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group. With a distinguished career spanning 30 years, encompassing both consulting and banking roles, he has successful established risk management and strategic planning functions across Asia and Middle East.
In her current role at IFC, Partha leads the BBN cluster with key focus on strategic initiatives around inclusion, harnessing the power of digital financial services and risk management to fortify the financial sector. He specializes in capacity building across various domains, including Digital Microfinance, Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) Finance, Gender-inclusive finance, forging close collaborations with regulatory bodies, financial institutions, and Fintech enterprises. He is also a key member of the Investment decision making process covering Asia.
Prior to joining IFC in 2020, Partha held various C level positions with large multinational and locals Banks in Asia and Middle East. He worked in UAE as Group Head of Strategic Risk for the largest GCC Bank. Reporting to the Board of Directors, he was responsible for managing and identifying the key strategic risks facing the Group, including business and country viability assessments. He gained invaluable experience on mergers and acquisition during this period.
Partha is a Harvard Business School Alumni and is a Chartered Accountant and Cost Accountant from India. He enjoys playing cricket, supports Manchester United Football Club, and loves travelling and yoga.
