Open Webinar - African Innovations in SME Finance - Part II: Payment Technology

Open Webinar

In our May webinar on African Innovations in SME Finance, we discussed mobile financial services and how sub-Saharan Africa is a leader in MFS innovation, adoption, and usage. With the expanding interest and capabilities in digital money in the region, many new financial and non-financial players are investing in mobile-based payment businesses, while other mobile money providers are offering bill payments in order to enhance their customer experience. We will examine the rapidly growing enthusiasm for a broader range of digital commerce experiences, focusing on payment technologies. Online payment technologies are critical to help small businesses digitalize and accept payments online. These customer-centric digital tools, can help SMEs both collect payments as well as offer digital financial services such as credit, utilizing payment history and other alternative data.

In this webinar, we will hear from JumiaPay, an online marketplace in Africa, M-Pesa/VodafoneTanzania, leaders in mobile money and payments, as well as online payment platform Paystack, who are leading payment technology in this region.

Host: Matthew Gamser, CEO, SME Finance Forum
